Biography
King of Georgia from 1027 to 1072, his long reign was a turbulent period of Byzantine pressure, internal feudal revolts, and the first Seljuk Turkish invasions. Despite difficulties he held the kingdom together and married strategically into the Alanian royal house. His memoirs and chronicle survive as important historical sources.
